What led to the discovery of Aluminium Foil?
Before Aluminium Foil was invented, people used tinfoil. The tinfoil would often taint the encased produce with a tin-like aftertaste. Over time, Tinfoil would become brittle and crumble. Aluminium foil was created to replace tinfoil. It is thinner, stronger, was able to be used as a protective barrier and doesn’t give the food a metallic aftertaste. Aluminium foil became increasingly popular in a short amount of time. This lead to popular chocolate company Tobler™ to encase their chocolates in Aluminium foil wrappers. In 1912, Maggi™ started using Aluminium to pack their soups.
